Roughly halfway between Modrava and Filipova Huť, there used to be a small chapel, which unfortunately has suffered the same fate as a number of these small sacral buildings in the Šumava. The overall motive is the attempt to return to the given place a new chapel of a similar size. Since a drawing or even a photograph of the precise appearance of the original chapel has not been preserved, it is impossible to try to create a replica or reconstruction of the former state. The design has therefore planned on a contemporary rendering of a chapel. A very terse form with a rounded altar side is quite typical for the Šumava. It can be assumed that this type of chapel could have stood precisely on this site. The proposed shape is precisely inspired by the geometry of an archetypal chapel, but thanks to the material selected it is clearly evident that it is a purely contemporary building. In a certain sense, it is a dialogue between tradition and the present. The material chosen is translucent resin with a mixture of ground glass in a light blue colour. The colour tone of the walls will create a unique light atmosphere inside of the chapel. Like the traditional sacral structure had a small altar with simple decoration, also here the placement of a bronze statue on the front, rounded wall is being planned. The method of the chapel’s construction will require significant efforts in the implementation, because it is the first application of resin cast into a mould.
